What an appointment actually involves

Eight ways to be seen. Each one has a defined length, a defined format and a written summary afterwards — so you always know what you are booking before you book it.

  1. 01

    Primary Care Visit

A standard appointment with your own clinician.

Booked with the clinician you usually see. Reception will offer the next available slot with that person before offering anyone else, and you leave with a written summary and any follow-up already arranged.

  2. 02

    Preventive Visit

An annual review, scheduled a year ahead.

A longer appointment set aside once a year to talk through how things are generally going. Anything arranged as a result is booked during the appointment rather than sent out afterwards.

    Length
    60 minutes
    Format
    In person
  3. 03

    Skin Consultation

A dermatology appointment in a daylight room.

First appointments are booked at double length. The consulting rooms at Clinic House and Riverside have north-facing daylight, and every consultation is written up and sent to you the same day.

    Length
    45 minutes
    Format
    In person
  4. 04

    Family Care

    Appointments arranged around a household.

Two or more members of the same family can be booked consecutively with the same clinician, in the family waiting area at North Studio or West Pavilion, so one trip covers everyone.

    Length
    30 minutes per person

    In person
  5. 05

    Wellness Planning

A conversation about routine, held at a table.

Sessions run in the Riverside kitchen or a Clinic House meeting room rather than a consulting room. The output is a short written plan you can revisit, not a leaflet.

    Length
    50 minutes

    Follow-up Visit

A shorter appointment to pick up a conversation.

Reserved for people already seen in person by the same clinician. Follow-ups are held in protected slots so they can be booked at short notice without displacing anyone else.

  7. 07

    Health Screening

A scheduled review with results explained in person.

Screening appointments are always paired with a second appointment to go through the results face to face. Nothing is communicated for the first time by letter or portal message.

    Length
    90 minutes across two visits

    Virtual Visit

A video appointment with a clinician you have met.

Offered to people already registered with a Clinic clinician. Virtual visits run to the same length as an in-person appointment and produce the same written summary.

Every visit is written up the same day

Summaries, care plans and letters appear in the patient portal. You can see how that works in the demo — with entirely fictional records.
